Hey guys, today I’m sharing a list of 4 foods you should eat as rarely as possible, especially as you are about to start your detox retreat. For each one, I’ll explain why you should avoid it and suggest a healthier alternative.

1. Processed Meats:

The first food to avoid is processed meats. These products are often loaded with unhealthy fats, especially trans fats, which are only found in industrially processed foods. Trans fats are among the most dangerous for your body and, when consumed in excess, can lead to chronic diseases such as heart problems.

Processed meats are also packed with hidden sugars and salt. Manufacturers add these to increase the product’s weight (and therefore the price), as well as to improve taste and shelf life. Another major concern is the presence of nitrates, which are converted in your body into nitrites and then nitrosamines—powerful carcinogens, especially for the stomach. The World Health Organization has classified nitrates as potent carcinogens.

Healthier alternative: Choose animal proteins like white meats, fish, or eggs instead.

2. Potato Chips:

Chips are one of the worst foods for your health. They combine excessive sugar, salt, and unhealthy fats—all in one addictive snack. The combination of sugar, salt, and fat is rare in nature and highly addictive, making you crave more and more.

Chips are designed to make you eat large quantities, thanks to their taste, texture, and even the sound they make when you bite into them.

If you want a healthier snack for an aperitif, opt for non-processed foods like cheese cubes, olives, nuts, or raw vegetables.

3. Industrial Sauces:

Industrial sauces, such as mayonnaise, ketchup, and many others that have become popular in recent years, are full of sugar, fat, salt, and a long list of additives—especially monosodium glutamate (MSG), which enhances flavor but is also a potential carcinogen.

Healthier alternative: Make your own sauces at home using fresh ingredients.

4. Nutella (or similar spreads):

Nutella is another food to avoid. It’s extremely high in sugar and fat, particularly palm oil, which is both an environmental and nutritional concern. Despite advertising claims, it remains a poor choice.

Healthier alternative: Use spreads like butter, jam, honey, or peanut butter.

By eliminating these foods and replacing them with healthier alternatives, you’ll support your body’s detox process and improve your overall health.
